Discover our new figurine of Gaston Lagaffe and his little Gaffophone, co-edition LMZ Collectibles X Collector BD in the Class!cs collection. This figurine is inspired by the iconic cover of volume 6 of the series (which became volume 7 since 2009).
The little Gaffophone, which retains all its power despite its small size, is held here in Gaston's hand. The life-size Gaffophone appeared for the very first time in Spirou n°1508 in 1967. To create this instrument with "A vibration of thunder, with maximum resonance!", Franquin was inspired by an African harp exhibited at the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren (Belgium).
It was not until the release of album 6, which inspired our figurine, that little Gaffophone would really come onto the scene. This anachronistic arrival is due to the later publication of the album, in 1968. Small but still destructive as evidenced by the portrait of Fantasio which comes off the wall with a crash. We can see a nod to the gradual disappearance of this character in Gaston's universe, his role being taken over largely by Prunelle (Fantasio will make his last appearance in page 551 of Gaston's gags ).
David Arnould put his talent at the service of this interpretation of Gaston Lagaffe, while trying to faithfully reproduce the graphic style of Franquin and the characteristic morphology of his character.
